(most of) the tech i own :D

published 3/26/25

this list is excluding my laptop, and my phone (flip phone cause i thought it was cute and i dont use the smartphone features anyway), and probably other stuff that i dont care about. you want me to take a picture of my digital clock and alarm? my lamp?

music players!!

pictured above: in order from left to right, a jensen tape player/recorder/speaker/radio combo, a sony sports cd walkman, a jensen boombox, a sony discman, and a portable jensen tape player.

first, i'll talk about the discman. it's a sony discman D-F411 i got off of ebay for around $40 a year or so ago. it was my first personal cd player that i owned. it's a really high quality cd player, honestly it was better than the more modern cd walkman i have, but i'll talk about that walkman later. it struggles to play cd-rs if you have esp on (skips a lot), but if you turn esp off then it will be all fine. the radio receptions not too good, but i have two radios so i don't mind. the sound settings (bass/groove) work really well, and the avls (auto volume limiting system) works really well too! i loved it, but it doesn't work so well anymore. i've got a weird story about it. it worked perfectly fine until i went to seattle a few months ago, but it stopped working when i got into seattle. i was really sad, but i couldnt just NOT have my music, so i went to the pawn shop to go find a new cd player. i picked up the sports walkman for about $30. but when i got back to my home the discman just started working again? but yea it doesnt work too fine anymore.

second, i'll talk about the sports walkman, since i'm on cd players and i mentioned it a few times in the last paragraph. overall this one works perfectly fine as a cd player, except for a few weird issues but you can get over them easily. it has tv and weather capabilities which is weird but not like THAT weird. seattle has a weather channel you can listen to, but not any of the other cities ive been in. i haven't got a lot to say about this one, it's not too interesting or high quality. my perfect cd player would be a mix between these two sonys, it would have the form of the discman, but the cd playing functionality (listening to cd-rs WITH esp) of the sports walkman.

next, i'll talk about the portable tape player in the bottom right. this was my first, and only portable tape player. it works okay, not much to say. not the best tape player, not the worst. its got a little hole in the back to change the tape speed, if you take off the little pocket thing. (it gets thrown off EASILY). tip: use a toothpick to change it. fun fact about me, bleach was the first tape AND the first cd i owned!

i'll talk about the two boomboxes in the same paragraph cause there's not too much to say about either of them, the left boombox has a microphone built into it which i use to record myself making music, and i really like it! the radio on its great too. the right boombox has got no microphone but its got a cd player built right into it.

video game consoles!!

pictured above: in order from left to right, a sony playstation one, a nintendo gameboy pocket, and a sony playstation portable.

first, the playstation one. i've always wanted a playstation one, they always looked so cool to me and they've got games like colin mcrae rally, final fantasy 7, tony hawks pro skater, etc.. and now i have one! i got this a few months ago at a local retro games shop the next town over from my house. i really like it, even though i dont have any of the cool games i mentioned above. i do have final fantasy 5/6 though!! i got those pretty recently, and i haven't played 6 yet but i love 5. sometime i wanna try to make a psx game myself, i hear they have a lively(?) homebrew scene, but maybe i'd try the psp first. i love the way the playstation one is designed, the disc drive, the shape, the big clunky buttons, and the menus! the menus are so cool looking, the cd player is awesome, and the boot screen is great.

waiter! waiter! next game console please! the gameboy pocket. i love the gameboy pocket, i got it at the same store i got the playstation one at, though i only have 2 games for it (tetris dx and yoshi). i wish it had a backlight, but other than that i really love it. i love the way the buttons feel, even though the d-pad is a little rattly, and i love the look of the old games. yoshi is so so cute. i wanna get more games, but jesus CHRIST they're so expensive.

the playstation portable. I LOVE THE PLAYSTATION PORTABLE!! OH MY GOD ITS SO GOOD!!! if i could only have one game console for the rest of time, i'd have the psp. like, you can put music on it. what the fuck else do you need. OH AND YOU CAN EMULATE OTHER CONSOLES ON IT. I HAVENT TRIED IT YET BUT I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT. its got some fire games on it, though i mostly only have sports games. i can't wait to get a bigger memory stick (i only have a 32mb one that was in the case for virtua tennis) for it so i can put more songs, and try and crack it!

cameras!!

pictured above: canon elura 90 minidv camcorder, samsung sl502 compact camera.

first, the canon elura 90. its dead. it doesnt work anymore. it turns on, but it fucks up tapes, and doesnt take photos on sd card mode. it worked once though! i took a few videos with my friends, and recorded some skate videos. but the camera fucked up those tapes and so all those are gone. i want to kill it!

the samsung sl502! i love it. it takes such nice looking photos, its small, it fits in my pocket, it takes the same quality videos as the horrid evil camcorder, and it can record audio! it looks a bit generic, and maybe it is, but i don't really care. it takes cute photos, is fun to take cute photos with, and takes an sd card instead of some fucked up proprietary memory card that hasnt been made for like 16 years.
