music's probably been my biggest hobby, both making and listening to it, so i would like to share the music i like with you!
click on the video under the albums to play my favorite song from them! i'm not sure if you click on multiple of them it will play multiple at once so maybe refresh it before you click on another one..
NIRVANAS ALBUMS:
these are the 3 main albums by my favorite band ever, nirvana. i discovered them on the radio in a u-haul, me and my mom were driving between places from moving into a new apartment, and i was all stressed out but then they played Breed and Floyd The Barber and it distracted me from all the stress. i just sat in the passengers seat listening to it and once they were done playing i asked my mom what band that was and i immediately went to my local record store and bought Nevermind.
SOUNDGARDENS ALBUMS:
i discovered soundgarden on the same radio station i discovered nirvana on, 94.9 FM san diego alternative. i had come home from a really horrible day and just wanted to calm down, but i didn't want to listen to anything i already owned, so i just turned on the radio and chose the station i always listened to, and black hole sun was about halfway through, and then after that they played blow up the outside world and i was hooked.
GARBAGES ALBUMS:
my story for discovering garbage isn't that interesting, my mom just introduced me to them cause we almost went to one of their concerts with pearl jam and allanis morrisette. my beautiful husband loves push it!!
BABES IN TOYLANDS ALBUMS:
to start this off i used to be a big skater, i still have a love for the sport but i don't do it as much or basically at all anymore. i had a group i would skate with, it was me, kevin, allie, ezekiel, and jules (i don't expect you to know these people), and we were skating one day down the road and we all stopped in this little field and we were just chilling. and jules asks me if i wanna listen to something with her, and i take the earbud and it's Bruise Violet, i asked her what band this is and the second i got home i looked them up.
SIDNEY GISH ALBUMS:
definitely very different from the other artists on this list, but sidney gish has been a comfort artist of mine for a couple years now. her songs just have a very cozy and relatable feel for me.
some different stuff:
FROM THE SOPRANOS:
now, they aren't a music artist but the tv show the sopranos has introduced me to some great music! state of main was played live by scout on the sopranos when adriana opened the crazy horse, and the captain was used for some credits sequences. it's great!!
ONE-OFFS:
(i only like this one album/song from this artist)
i love all the songs here (well except loser that songs like ok at best), especially you know how it is but i've just never been able to get into the bands that made these songs. i wanna try and get more into kero kero bonito cause i just love that song so much.
now back to your regularly scheduled programming
HOLE ALBUMS:
say what you will about courtney love (except for that she killed kurt you're kinda crazy if you think that), but shes definitely made some damn good songs. the whole live through this album is amazing.
PIXIES ALBUMS:
the video for surfer rosa being from baker 2g isn't a mistake. that skate video right there (the full one not this clip) is how i discovered the pixies, now one of my favorite bands. as a wise man (random youtube commenter) said, your favorite band was probably inspired by the pixies, and if they weren't then their favorite band was. now that quote is untrue for like every band before the pixies, and is untrue for like 30% of bands now, it does show the impact the pixies had on music. surfer rosa was produced by a rock legend, and person who i look up to even though i've never met, RIP steve albini.
